Social Services Committee
of the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo

The Social Services Committee of the Islamic Center of Greater Toledo is charged with the following duties:

            To provide for the social well being of the members of the community;

            To provide assistance programs for needy Muslims;

            And to cooperate with other community service organizations.

             Traditionally, the Committee has visited shut-ins and hospitalized patients of the community; has provided meals for area Soup Kitchens; has conducted Parenting Seminars and Marriage Seminars; has conducted health fairs and blood drives; has conducted canned-food drives; and has participated in other service projects.

            Recently, two special projects were completed.  The Committee developed a series of greeting cards including sympathy cards, get-well cards, marriage congratulation cards and new baby congratulation cards for the exclusive use of the committee to be sent, at the appropriate occasion, on behalf of the members of the Center.  A pamphlet was published and made available to the members of the Center, which detailed Islamic rules for preparation and execution of wills.  Another project, a medical handbook, is in the process of being completed.

            Volunteers are welcome to assist in any of the Committee’s programs.  Be it financial donations or cooking or visitations or serving at a Soup Kitchen, all offers are greatly appreciated.
